About Us

Summit 8000 is a Sherpa-owned and Sherpa-led Himalayan expedition company based in Nepal, built by people whose lives and careers are closely connected with the mountains. We are the Best Expedition Company in Nepal, specializing in trekking, peak climbing, and high-altitude expeditions from 6,000m and 7,000m peaks to the world's highest mountains. Our expeditions are backed by experienced mountain leaders, local knowledge, and carefully planned logistics.

Our work is built around experienced mountain leadership, careful preparation, and dependable support throughout the journey. From the first planning in Kathmandu to the high mountains, our team stays involved in the details that matter. Whether the objective is a first Himalayan summit or an 8,000m expedition, we believe good expedition service starts with understanding the mountain, preparing properly, and taking care of the people who climb it.

Leadership Rooted in the Himalayas

Summit 8000 is led by people with a direct and long-standing connection to Nepal's mountains. Fur Gelje Sherpa and Temba Tsheri Sherpa bring decades of experience in mountaineering, trekking, tourism, and Himalayan expedition operations.

Fur Gelje Sherpa

Chairperson | President, Nepal Mountaineering Association

From Solukhumbu, Fur Gelje Sherpa has more than four decades of experience in trekking, mountaineering, tourism, and hospitality. He has climbed numerous 6,000m and 7,000m peaks and has extensive knowledge of expedition logistics, mountain safety, and local communities.

In 2025, he was elected President of the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA). His work focuses on professional mountain training, guide certification, rescue preparedness, and the development of Nepal's mountain tourism sector. As Chairperson of Summit 8000, he helps guide the company's approach to professional and responsible mountaineering.

Temba Tsheri Sherpa

Chief Executive Offier |Expedition Leader

Temba Tsheri Sherpa reached the summit of Mount Everest on 23 May 2001 at the age of 16, becoming the youngest Everest summiteer at the time, with the achievement recognized by Guinness World Records.

His journey to the summit followed a difficult 2000 Everest attempt that caused severe frostbite and the loss of five fingers. He returned the following year and successfully summited Everest from the Tibet side.

Since then, Temba has continued working in trekking, guiding, mountaineering, and tourism. His experience as a high-altitude climber and his knowledge of Himalayan tourism now contribute to the leadership and expedition operations of Summit 8000.
