Pasang Sherpa

Pasang Sherpa
Amid the towering shadows of the Himalayas, in a remote village of the Solukhumbu
district, on December 25, 1978, Pasang Sherpa was born. For Pasang, the mountains
were never just giant scenery but something deep and spiritual that held utmost
respect.

Life in the highlands was rugged and unforgiving, far from the dreams that stirred
within him. In 1995, armed with little more than courage and ambition, Pasang left his
village for Kathmandu, Nepal’s bustling capital. Determined to rise beyond
circumstance, he dedicated himself to education, completing his SLC examination in
1996. That very year, he began his journey in the mountains as a porter, taking his first
steps on paths that would define his future.

While carrying loads across Himalayan trails, he carried ambitions just as heavy.
Beginning his journey as a porter, Pasang’s dedication, discipline, and strong work ethic
soon set him apart, allowing him to progress quickly into the role of a trusted trekking
guide, leading visitors through the mountains he knew so well. He balanced demanding fieldwork with continued studies and successfully completed his high school education.

These early experiences shaped his vision, and in 2001, alongside completing his
With an undergraduate degree in Business Studies, he founded his own trekking company
, transforming hands-on mountain experience into a purpose-driven enterprise.

With age came a deeper connection to wildlife, nature, and the untamed beauty of the
mountains. His hunger for learning never faded. He fulfilled a lifelong goal by
completing a Master’s in Business Studies, then expanded his intellectual horizon
toward global affairs and governance. This journey culminated in 2025, when he
earned a second Master’s degree(an MPS in Political Science), marking the achievement
of a double Master’s.
Rooted in mountain wisdom and guided by modern leadership, Pasang dedicated years of
service to Nepal’s tourism institutions. A licensed tourist guide of Nepal, he served as
Secretary of the Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) from 2013 to 2025, and as
General Secretary of the Sherpa Tourism Entrepreneurs Association of Nepal (STEAN) from
2022 to 2025. Today, he continues to lead as President of STEAN and shape the future of
sustainable mountain tourism.

Having journeyed across 32 countries, Pasang Sherpa has left his footprints far beyond the
Himalayas. His mountaineering accomplishments include ascents of Mera Peak and
Lobuche Peak, and Mount Kilimanjaro (one of the Seven Summits), which he summited on
his 41st birthday, December 25, 2019. Now serving as one of the Managing Directors of
Summit 8000, his story stands as living proof that the highest summits are not only
conquered with ropes and ice axes, but with vision, resilience, and the courage to chase
dreams.

Pasang Sherpa’s story is one of quiet determination and extraordinary vision. From
carrying loads to carrying responsibility, his journey proves that with hard work, humility,
and purpose, even the most distant dreams can stand firmly at the summit.
